Pinched Nerves
A pinched nerve
occurs when there is pressure on a nerve. The pressure may be the
result of repetitive motions, trauma or it may happen from holding
your body in one position for long periods, such as sleeping
awkwardly or sitting for prolonged periods of time.
Nerve compression
often occurs when there are bulging discs or swelling around the
joints. Other sources of nerve entrapment may include ligament
thickening, scar tissue/post surgical adhesions, arthritic bone
spurs, stenosis (narrowing of spinal canals) and tendinopathy (tendon
disorders).

Inflammation or
pressure on a nerve root exiting the spine may cause neck pain, low
back pain or radiating pain into the arms or legs. This can include
numbness, tingling, and/or weakness in the affected arms or legs. A
common pinched nerve we see often is Sciatica. Sciatica is
characterized by pain down the back of the leg which can include
numbness, tingling, or weakness.
We offer a variety
of treatment options to help with pinched nerves and Sciatica. Chiropractic adjustments
can lessen the pressure on the discs, nerve
glides and nerve flossing can release the pressure on the nerves, and
electrical stimulation can help relax the affected muscles and reduce
any muscle tightness or spasms.
